Here is a selection of the best goalkeepers over the last few decades. It's by no means a definitive list, but some of our favourites. For example, Rene Higuita for his amazing Scorpion kick at Wembley, or Peter Schmeichel, who at Manchester United was such an unstoppable giant in goal. Another is Edwin van der Sar, who recently retired at the age of 40 and was still one of the best 'keepers around.
